NSW
wins Webby's Cup defeating Victoria in final - Jan 2007
New South Wales Deaf cricket team finally had a cause for celebration.
They won the Webby's Cup which is a national title for Deaf cricket.
The last time they won it was in 1996/97 which was then the E. J.
D. Abraham Shield. So it was a timely victory for the strong NSW
side which swept all before them.
NSW
played commanding cricket right throughout the tournament, defeating
SA, QLD and then VIC to progress straight to the Grand Final. The
Semi Final was played between SA and VIC, with VIC earning the right
to play in the Grand Final, defeating SA by 4 runs.
NSW
were superbly led by Kym Daley who was able to lift the standard
of his team with excellent leadership and a strong desire to focus
and ultimately succeed.
